According to source: Taylors Creek 1760-1986 2nd Edition: "BRADLEY: First settlers, Eli and Newman Bradley (brothers). From either Massachusetts or Connecticut, the Bradleys migrated first to South Carolina and then to Liberty County about 1800. A third brother, John, moved to west Georgia. Eli Bradley married a Miss Swilley from Florida."
My records indicate: Eli Bradley b. 1790 d. 31Oct1872 at Taylors Creek, Liberty Co., GA. He married Celia Swilley abt. 1810 at Taylors Creek. She was born 1796 in Craven Co., NC.
The Bradleys were one of the original nine families to settle at Taylors Creek, Liberty Co., GA, an area that now belongs to the government (as of 1941), Ft. Stewart reservation.
My great-aunt, Sarah Elizabeth Downs, married John Swilley, Eli's grandson.
Sherry Deal Jones
