Dear Mr. Swindell:
After reading the information in your message regarding Walthourville Presbyterien Church, I thought that I would contact you to see if you would know how I would obtain genealogical information regarding the Walthourville Baptist Church and Its records. I am referring to the old Church that used to be located in Sunbury and was burned during the American Civil War. In front of the Walthourville Baptist church in Walthourville, GA is a State of GA Historical Marker which states that the Church was founded in 1809 and that the original Church shared the Church with the Sunbury Baptist Church. It was burned in 1864. I have found it virtually impossible to obtain information about McIntosh County and Darien, GA's records prior to the American Civil War. I am trying to locate marriage and burial records of some members of my families who lived in that area and who I think worshipped in Walthourville Baptist Church in the 1830's. I am hoping that some of the old Church records may have been saved and are available for research somewhere. Thank you for any assistance that you could give to me. I have tried every way I know how to find genealogical information regarding my ancestors life in the 1830's in the McIntosh and Liberty Counties Area.
Sinceerely,

Carole Melson.
