If you or anyone is inquiring about ancestors named Burton, I cannot help you.

My husband's family name was Burden (not Burton) until his grandfather had it legally changed to Burton because he came from England to a small community in Wisconsin that was full of Burtons. He said he got tired of explaining, "No my name isn't Burton; it's Burden." No one paid any attention so he figured that since he couldn't beat them he'd join them."
