Myra,
Thank you so much for posting your info, Here is a little more I have found in regards to Arthur in GA Newspapers. What We are wondering is if this Arthur Carney is the same as Trader Arthur Carney of Panton & Leslie about 1787-1799 in West Florida and Spanish (MS Territory). Trader Arthur had a son Jeremiah Carney that signed the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek. See below in 1776 Article in regards to the info you ref which I appreciate and was wondering about as a Jeremiah is mentioned in that article. As you may know Lachlan McGillvery, William McIntosh and William Cooper were in West Florida trading with the Indians. And seems to have also been in GA.I have much info on the McGillvery, McIntosh, and Cooper. Just trying to sort out if I have more than One Arthur Carney a Sr or JR. or III in the mentioned time frames. There is an Arthur Carney in Natchez in Business in 1792 with John Turnbull and Associates. Any insight on this would be appreciated. Many Thanks DJ

I hearby acknowledge that the words I inadvertently dropped to the prejudice of the characters of Arthur Carney , planter and Willam Baker, carpenter, in respect to their being privey to or concerned in clandestinely conveying away horses from the northward, is without proper foundation and I never knew anything dishonest in either of them.
