Pigot Branch Church Cemetery

I purchased an excellent booklet compiled by Margie Bacon DeLoach and Hazel Bacon Todd, ‘Pigott Branch Church and Cemetery 1884-1995’. Pigot Branch Church is located on US Highway 301 between Ludowici and Glennville, GA. The Church and Cemetery is now in an area of Long County that until about 1920 was a part of Liberty County, GA.

In addition to some of Pigot Branch Church History and Records, a complete Inventory of all Graves and Grave Markers with Inscriptions are included in the document. At time the inventory was completed (April 22, 1996) there were over 550 marked graves in the Cemetery and several unmarked graves. Copies of the booklet were presented to Pigot Branch Church, The Long County Public Library in Ludowici, GA and a copy to the Liberty County Historical Society, Liberty County, GA.

Another document ‘The Walthourville Presbyterian Cemetery’, ‘an Inventory of all Graves and Grave Markers with Inscriptions’, was prepared by Margie Bacon DeLoach and Hazel Bacon Todd a few years back. I don’t have a copy of that document, but copies were presented to the Midway Church and the Liberty County Historical Society.

The address for more information: Margie DeLoach Love, 30 North Jefferson St., Hinesville, GA 31313. I understand from Ms Margie DeLoach Love that limited copies of both books are still available.

Hope this information will be helpful to others in searching for data on their ancestors.

Sincerely, Earl Swindell
