William Smith/Joseph Davis 1822

I am looking for information on William Smith of Jones County. I came across a deed between William Smith of Jones County and Joseph Davis of Monroe County.
William Smith refers to Joseph Davis as his brother in law. The deed is dated 1822.

Either William Smith is married to Joseph Davis' sister, or Joseph Davis is married to William Smith's sister or Joseph and William are married to sisters.

Joseph Davis was born 1774 in Buncombe County, NC. His wife's name is unknown. They were married abt 1797. She was born about 1780 and died between 1840 and 1843. Joseph Davis was in Wilkinson County in 1820, Monroe County in 1830, Meriwether County in 1840, and Tallapoosa County, AL in 1850.

Does anyone know who Willam Smith's wife was?

Thanks for any help.
