Hi, I'd like to learn more about Robert McGehee (d. 1841 Jones Co.,Ga) and his wife Elizabeth. I believe one of his granddaughters, Martha McGehee, was the 2nd wife (m. 1862) of Benjamin Herndon of Jones Co., Ga. I'm doing a little reserach for a descendant of theirs and would appreciate your help. I think Martha was the daughter of John W. McGehee and his wife, Emily, but have no proof. I found a notation that John W. was the son of Robert d. 1841. A recent trip to the archives confirmed that Martha was born ca. 1845... John and Emily had a daughter, Martha A. McGehee, b. ca. 1845 according to census records.

Benjamin Herndon (1802-1867) was a son of Walker Herndon of Orange Co., NC and Jones Co., Ga. Was Robert McGehee from Orange Co., too, perhaps? Thank you.
