Hi John -
I appreciate the info in your reply! I spent lots of time in the Jasper County Library but did not see the book you mention by Jewel Lancaster. I doubt if I could locate a copy here in Birmingham. If it is not too much trouble I would certainly appreciate receiving these pages. I will send my fax # directly to you if you will send me your email address. Mine is jabbott@bellsouth.net. Are you kin to the McDowells? They are a very interesting family. My grandmother was a McDowell straight back to William McDowell and Mary Ann McDade, but I cannot make a link between William McDowell and General Charles McDowell, it just won't match up even though the DAR accepted my Grandmother's Sister in 1922 with Williiam as Charles' son.

Have you ever heard where William and Mary Ann are buried? I have been to the cemetery which you mention and found my Grandmother's Grandfather John McDowell's grave. My Grandmother's Father was William Pinkney McDowell and he is buried in Acworth, Georgia in the Liberty Hill Cemetery along with his wife Serena Anne Bloodworth McDowell.
