You were nice enough to help me some time ago with information about the executors of the estate of George Ray forclosing on a mortage of David Young in Sept of 1823 found in the Augusta Chronicle. The land was on Sandy Run which was in southern Wilkes co Georgia in 1823 but was in Taliaferro co Ga when Taliaferro co Ga was formed in I believe 1823. It was a Sheriff's sale. George Ray was my ancestor. He owned the land on Sandy Run in
Wilkes co Ga in the 1790's and ended up in Jasper co Ga. The last record anyone can find about George Ray was in 1819 when his son Samuel Ray signed George's land in Jasper co Ga back over to him. Samuel had tried to sell it for George but was not able to sell it. Many researcher say George Ray died in 1819 because that is the last record they can find about him. Since the article about the Sheriff's sale of land owned by the estate of George Ray was in 1823 I guess George must have died between 1819 and 1823. I don't know if the Augusta Chronicle from the early 1820's has an index but if you have time would you mind seeing if you could find any more entries about George Ray in the early 1820's on Sandy Run in Wilkes co or Taliaferro co Ga. Since it was a Sherrif's sale I doubt it would have been listed in the Augusta Chronicle when they sold it. I guess that would be the land records you mentioned. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ross
