The only person I know anything about is Fowler Holt. Are you sure he was a doctor? He had a brother named Leroy Fowler Holt who was an MD. Holton, Georgia which I believe is in Bibb County, Georgia was named in his honor. It lost its charter in the 1990's. It was renamed Arkwright I think. He had a female descendant who married an Arkwright. Both Leroy Fowler and Fowler Holt were sons of Thaddeus Holt and Martha A. P. Compton. Thaddeus Holt was the son of Simon Holt and Sarah Hines. They married in Halifax County, Virginia. Around 1800, Simon Holt sent some of his children to Millidgeville, Baldwin County, Georgia. They bought land and established farms. When Putnam County, Georgia was created from Baldwin County most of the land was in Putnam County. Later, Simon Holt and his children and their families moved to Baldwin and Putnam Counties in Georgia. I can take this line back to Robert and Dorothy Heywood Holt who came to St. Mary's, Maryland in 1646.
I am not directly related to these individuals. Our first common relative died in 1693 in Essex County, Virginia. However, my direct line did live in Houston County, Georgia. James Holt and his wife Jane Stanfield Holt lived there. James Holt died in about 1827 in Houston County, Georgia. He moved there from Greene County, Georgia.
I hope this helps. Many people have gotten the two branches of the Holt family mixed up. I found one query that was trying to make a member of the Simon Holt's the husband and Jane Stanfield. They did live in many counties in Georgia at the same time. Simon Holts children were active in politics in Georgia. Also, Colquitt's are related to Simon Holt.
