Eva Mason was my father's aunt. I have some information for you. Eva was born July 31, 1888 in South Carolina. She died December 27, 1967, and is buried at the Oakway Wesleyan Methodist Church Cemetary in Oakway, South Carolina. J. Y. (Bud) Burns died December 29, 1939, in Oconee County, South Carolina. Bud and Eva had 9 children (Melvin, Will, Jim, Thad, Lum, Nettie, Lizzie, Pauline and Sudie). I have an Obituary Notice from the Tugaloo Tribune, January 3, 199, Page 3, Column C. It says J. Y. (Bud) Burns - Seneca, SC, December 29--J. Y. (Bud) Burns, 78, well known citizen of Oconee County, died at his home in the Cross Roads section this morning at 8:30 o'clock from a heart attack. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Eva Mason Burns; five sons and four daughters; Will Burns (AL), Jim Burns, Eastman (GA), Thad Burns, Seneca (SC), and Lum Burns, Greenville (SC), Melvin Burns, LaFrance, Mrs Nettie Tucker Seneca (SC), Mrs. Lizzie Simmons and Mrs. Pauline Treadaway, Earle's Grove (SC), Mrs. Sudie Tucker, Townville (SC), one brother John Burns, Pendleton (SC), three sisters, Mrs. Frances Simmons, Blunt Springs (AL), Mrs. Tanie Adams, Townville (SC), and Mrs. Lucia Adams, Cross Roads, (SC).
