Descendants of Wm Peek and Reba Isabella Redmond

I would like to ask that any of you who descend from this couple, please read on and give me your opinions, facts, and such as to the validity of my assumptions.

My great great grandmother was Millie Catherine Peek. She was born on May 5, 1847 possibly in Clarke county, GA. On March 7, 1860 she married Joseph Benedict in Clarke County. Later that same year, the Census shows this Peake family:

Elizabeth Peake Head of household, born 1820 SC.
Ambrosia (?) Smith born 1822 (?) SC (sister?)
16 yr old girl with different name... possible widow, oldest daughter?
Lizzie Peake b. 1847
Elizabeth Peake b. 1849
Sarah J. Peake b. 1852
Amanda Frances Peake b. 10-13-1852
Nancy Peake b. 1855

On Millies death certificate from Winder GA, Barrow Co. it states that her parents were Stephen Peak and Elizabeth Smith. It was family knowledge that Millie's family was from Hart Co, Hartwell GA. Amanda Frances Peak's family knew Amanda's father was Steve/Stephen Peak, though he does not appear in this census.

The fact that Elizabeth has a woman by the name of Smith in her house, shows that she was probably a Smith before marriage. If this is Millies family, she was married prior to the Census being taken, and would not appear in this household. I have yet to find her on a census with Joseph Benedict. Benedict dies sometime later, (we were always told in C.W. but I find no soldier record for him) and she marries James Calloway Seagraves sometime before 1871 when their first child is born.

Now, given that this Stephen must be approx. the same age as his wife, and coming from this same area, we assume that he must belong to a family here. The Elizabeth Peak family moves to Hart Co, and most die there. William Peek, father of a Stephen Peak born abt 1818, dies and is buried in Hart Co, Hartwell GA.

Due to this evidence, I have linked my Millie to this Elizabeth Peake family. After having sent Amanda Frances Peak's family pictures of Millie, and myself receiving pictures of Elizabeth the evidence becomes more factual. Millie is said to look exactly like Lizzie Peek, from memory of those who descend from her. Lizzie, I wondered if she was a twin to my millie, given the same year of birth. Elizabeth's picture looks like those on my side who would have been her grandchildren.

I ask if anyone out there has any information on this family, on this Stephen Peak son of William and Reba, grandson of William and Elizabeth (shockley) Peak. Please get in touch with me.

Thank you,
