Hi, I descend from Robert White Sr 1743-1843, of Union Co SC. A grandson of his, Samuel White (listed in "Hist of Hart Co GA", moved to Hart Co GA 1851/52, with his family. He moved from Spartanburg SC, he had two surviving sons there in Hart, Dr William Franklin White, and Dr David Monroe White, who went by Monroe and listed as MD White on occassion, WF White had a son Samuel Harrison White, they married in the Jackson, Pearman, Parker line of Hart Co. Have wondered what inspired him to move there, I do see other Spartanburg/Union surnames living in Hart (formerly Franklin/Elbert Co til 1853). Our number one Robert White came from NC, settled in Union Co 1788. Am wondering about a connection to this Robert, who was a Rev War vet of 6 years, via Obit only, to the White's of this area of GA. A WILLIAM WHITE - Moved to Franklin from Union Co SC, early on, this Wm married in 1788 in Union Co, the same year my Robert White arrived, I have thought he may be a younger brohter. Guess this Wm White multipled in this area of GA. MARTIN WHITE - Was reading your posting on this family, and saw Luke White, of Edgefield NC. We are not sure of Robert White's parents or siblings, he married Mildred Whitehead dau of a Wm Whitehead, I believe both Wm & our Robt moved down from Caswell Co NC, 1787/88 to Union and Lauren Co SC. William Whitehead had formerly lived in Granville Co NC, then to Caswell then to Lauren Co SC... Robert White's children: William, John, Susan, Jane, Robert Jr, Stephen, Tilliam, Mary, Elizabeth, Mildred, Elias, Maj Benjamin Franklin White author of the Sacred Harp 1844. Robert White Sr 1743-1843 - Children married into the following families of Union and Spartanburg, Beddington, Bullington, Boatman, Bobo, Cooper, Gibbs, Golightly, Norman, Rhodes (2 married into this line). These Rhodes settled Richmond Co GA. Do you see a connection? with your White's here? We only know from a family letter written in 1886 by a grandson, that Robert White 1743-1843 was 'born near the Roanoke River VA, and lived a time along the TAR river before moving to Union Co Sc in 1788. Anywho, would be interested in the White family of this area, as I am sure there were relatives, possibly siblings of his, early on Robt Sr came in contact with; Stephen White, Moses White, William, Thomas White.. These folks he had contact with during his life in Union Co SC, in the late 1700's and early 1800's. But cannot pull them together, they were of his generation.
