Gretta, just wondered if Matilda Saunders is the one that married George Stinson. Is there a Matilda Saunders in your family tree? She married George Stinson around 1820 in Georgia. There is a story in our family about how her family escaped from Stewart County GA. to Fort Gaines. The Creek Indians were on an uprising about 1824. One of the chiefs help Matilda and her family escape. Matilda, is my g-g-grandmother. The only Matilda that we have been able to find is George Stinson marrying Matilda McIntosh in 1820's in Coweta County, Georgia. George Stinson was born in Buckingham County, Virginia about 1794. Any help you could give me would be appreciated.
