My great-great-great grandfather was Reuben Reid (b. 1785, d. 1837) who married Elizabeth Dickert (b. 1800, d. 1852) in Newberry County, SC, on August 11 or 16, 1816. They had five children: Lucinda, b. 1819; Matilda, b. 1820; m. J.J. Lewis; Jesse Walton Reid, b. 1824; Zillah Elizabeth Reid, b. 1826; Reuben Christopher Reid, b. 1837. Jesse Walton Reid m. Mary "Polly" Tripp, daughter of John Tripp. Their only child was Washington Irving Reid, who was living in Hart County, Georgia, in 1891 with his large family (according to information in a book written by his father, J.W. Reid).
Matilda and John J. Lewis were my great-great grandparents. I would like to know more about the Reid family, and I hope one of Irving's descendants can provide some information about Reuben's parents, Joseph and ___ Reid (supposedly a cousin of Andrew Jackson).
