William J. Brooks, Age 38 - 1870 Census

I am seeking information on William J. Brooks who was listed in the 1870 Harris Co. census with his wife Mary. Their children were Nancy, Martha, William, Thomas Jefferson, and Joseph (known as Joeby).

Many Brooks named their sons William. There was a grandson of Thomas and Frances Satterwhite of Spartanburg named William. He was reared by Blagrave Glenn and Frances. Because of the close alliance to the Satterwhite family, I wonder if there could be a connection. This Satterwhite and Elisha Brooks had owned a wagon making business in Virginia.

There was also a Thomas Jefferson Brooks who married Patience Story and Sarah Fincher. By Patience he had these children: Moses Terrell, John, William J., Lucy Jane, Mary, Elizabeth, George, Eveline, Franklin, Francis, Thomas Jefferson, Jr. and N.P. (male). Thomas and Patience are buried in Fayette Co., GA. This Thomas Jefferson, Sr., was also born in Spartanburg, SC in 1796.

I also wonder, given the association between Brooks, Pratts, and Daniels, if there could be a connection between the Joab Brooks of Warren County, GA and William J. of Harris County. Two of Joab's daughters married Pratts and lived in Harris and Troup Counties. Elizabeth Brooks b.1792 in Warren Co. married Leonard Pratt and Jane Brooks married Vincent Pratt. (These Pratts were also connected to the Hutchinsons and Hulings of Harris Co.)

I will appreciate any help in finding my William J. Brooks, and with weeding through these possibilities.
