Vickie, what type of information is available in Harris County? When I asked, I was told that I would find much more information in the Troup Archives in LaGrange.

I am researching William J. Brooks(1870) and Benjamin F. Walker(1860). I have deed information on Benjamin in Oglethorpe Co., and in Franklin Co. I have two pages of his will that I found in the State Archives in Atlanta. I have little or nothing on William J. Brooks. I believe I found a marriage certificate for William and Mary Jane Swanson in 1854 in Troup County. William could be from Meriwether County, but I have no names of parents or siblings.

Benjamin's widow, Mahala Walker, was on the 1880 Harris County census. With her were Terrell Walker,62, with wife Elisabeth,38, and young daughter, Addie. Terrell must be Benjamin's brother. He was born about 1818 somewhere in Georgia. This leads to the fact that their parents might have been in the area as well.

I will appreciate knowing where to look if and when I ever get back to Hamilton. Meanwhile if you bump into these names, I would like to hear about it. You are being most generous.

Ann
