Gene, I don't know for sure but I'll tell you that some of the Blanton family went to Texas together . Three Blanton brothers owned a trading post on the Chatahoochie River with the Tidwell brothers Duncan and Melvin . This was at West Point GA near Whitesville. There are Houstons buried in the New Hope Cemetery along with the Blantons, Tidwells and the Davis.. and the Littles. Ransom Gwyn Blanton and his brother William staked out and surveyed land in a place called Buffalo Bayou on the southern end of the Brazos River in in the Rep of TEX the fall of 1836; they named it HOUSTON. The Blanton and the Allen brothers named it after GEN Sam Houston who I believe must be related somehow. I think you should check out West Point if there was a trading post there.
