Trying to trace the whereabouts of John Layton who came to Washington Co., Ga in early 1800's from NC. He was in the 1820,1830 1nd 1840 census in Washington Co.. Cannot find where he went or died. Also need to find his son Alford/Alfred A. Layton b.1828 in Wash. Co. Ga., then no account of him until at age of 22 in Muscogee Co Ga.in the 1850 census living with a family by the name of Brookin or Brookins. These folks were mulatto or black(free slaves.) There was a slave owner in Wash. Co. Ga by the name of Brookins, Benjamin. Any ideas or hints? I can be reached at: patlayton31@gmail.com.

Thanks
Pat Layton
