My husband's mother was Louise Miller (see #18 below.), great-granddaughter of Jefferson Mitchell through his adopted daughter Catherine and her first husband (?) Coleman. Clara Idella Coleman, my husband's grandmother, married Johnathon Miller. Some of this information is not documented. We have no real proof of Catherine's Cherokee mother. It is handed down in family and her children all had very distinctive native looks.

"MONEY". She was born Abt. 1841 in Georgia, and died April 18, 1907.
Notes for JEFFERSON C. MITCHELL:
The Rose Hill, Covington County, AL post office was established on December 24, 1855, with
Andrew J. Feagin as postmaster. On June 8, 1857, James T. Brady became postamaster, and he was
followed by Jefferson C. Mitchell on November 3, 1859. After Mitchell served one year, James T.
Brady was again appointed to the office on Nov.7, 1860, and he served until Oct.9, 1866, when the
office was discontinued.
According to hand written notes from Louise Miller Johnson, Jefferson Mitchell adopted 2 Cherokee
children, Catherine and Thomas Albert.
Catherine was born December 23, 1856.
