Nancy Bird m. Stephen Rowe 1824

The book of Hancock Co. marriages indicates that Nancy Bird married Stephen Hiram Rowe in Hancock Co. in 1824. This couple are my 2d great-grandparents.

Stephen, a Baptist preacher, teacher, and farmer, was one of the younger children of the many born to Joshua (II) Roe/Rowe, soldier of the Revolution, and Sarah Rigby/Rigbey.

I have long been stymied in identifying NANCY BIRD'S parents. She is almost certainly kin to line from Halifax Co., NC (Peter Bird, Sr., Allen Bird). Nancy and Stephen are in Hancock Census 1830 (as "Roe") apparently with 3 children who thereafter disappear; I know Stephen got a teaching certificate in Arkansas abt. 1842 but otherwise I have no info on Nancy's whereabouts from 1830 Census until 1846 (birth in Gadsden Co., Florida of son John Henry Rowe 1846-1922 at which event I feel confident Nancy was present in person!).

Nancy is in Gadsden Co. FL Census 1850 with 7 children all born betw. 1835 (Rebecca) and 1848 (Caledonia). Rebecca and Martha apparently did not marry; Ann m. Wilson, Mary 1841-1882 m. Wm. Stuart Pope (my great-grandparents), the other dtr whose name escapes me this minute married Hiram McDonald (all in Jackson Co., FL in 1860-61) and Caledonia m. William Phillips after the war. John was a Confederate soldier, emigrated to Brazil, where he married and had many children.

Stephen re-married in Decatur Co., GA in 1862 and moved to Arkansas. Nancy was in 1860 Census with Stephen and 7 kids in Jackson Co., FL (which borders Gadsden Co. and also Georgia, this is the panhandle). Nancy's date of death reportedly, and plausibly, was 1861 and the place per one source was Georgia. I suspect Decatur County, GA as a likely place (travel had to have been curtailed due to the war, it is where Stephen remarried in 1862, and there were BIRDS there).

Any proof or clues regarding parentage of Nancy Bird would be gratefully received.
