Thomas PHILLIPS, 40th Ga Infantry, CSA
Posted by: J Vitale (ID *****5674) Date: July 25, 2003 at 06:53:32

I am looking for information re: Thomas F. Phillips/family.
He is shown on the 1850 and 1860 GA census living in Gordon County, GA. He was 29 y/o in 1850, so he would have been born abt 1820, in GA. His wife's name was Margaret and she was also born in GA.
His Confederate service record shows that he joined the 40th GA Infantry, Co. D. He fought at Vicksburg, was captured and paroled. He later re-enlisted and was killed at Columbia, Tenn on Dec 20, 1864.
Any information about this person would be greatly appreciated.
Joan Vitale
