In the late 1970's and early 80's, I was pastor of Hill City Baptist Church in Gordon Co. One of the early pastors of the church was a Rev. C. C. Maples. I know that he also served the Sugar Valley Baptist Church a couple of miles from Hill City at one time. Most of the rural churches in north GA in the 1800's and up until after WW2 were "half time" (preaching two Sundays a month) or "quarter time" (preaching once a month), so preachers back then often served several churches simultaneously. C. C. Maples probably pastored a dozen or more Baptist churches in Gordon, Whitfield, and Murray Counties at one time or another. I THINK C. C. Maples is buried at Sugar Valley, but don't hold me to that because I am not sure. Don't know if he is part of the Maples family you are researching, but I thought I'd pass that along.
