Dear Ms. Whitley,
I am a descendant of several members of D Company, 39th Georgia Infantry and research the regiment. Below is the link to my web site on the regiment. I try to research the soldiers (especially the officers) in an attempt to learn more about the regiment and the soldiers.
LTC Milton was a hard charging officer and he is one of those I have found facinating to try and find out as much as possible. I have several bits of information on him that I would like to share if you can contact me at my home email address. I had a copy of the reference to his assassination but I can not put my hands immediately upon it. If I remember correctly it mentions a newspaper article as its source. I have made an attempt at locating the newspaper but I did not have success at finding copies of it.
I am interested in any information you may have on him, legend or otherwise, and I want to share what I have. He was a rather affluent gentleman in Gilmer County prior to the war and answered the call of his state when asked. Thanks for responding to my query and looking forward to hearing from you.
