I was looking at my great great grandfather, Nathaniel Knight, Sr. probate record. The probate record said that he had bought some property in Fulton County, Georgia from Mrs. Emma L. Cowan (I think this could be Nathaniel Knight Sr.’s sister) on February 2, 1929. This is what his probate record said:
ALL THAT TRACT OR A PARCEL OF LAND lying and being in Land Lot Number 241 of the Fourteenth District of Fulton County, Georgia, and being a part of Lot No. Two (2), as shown by the plot of Property of Knight Heirs and W.R. Knight, in Lot No. 241 of the Fourteenth District of Fulton County, Georgia, made by E.W. Robert, C.E. and County Surveyor, October 25, 1928, and more particularly describe as follows:
Commencing at a point 394.30 feet northeast of an iron pipe, which divided the land of W.R. Knight and Lot one of said plat, and running thence northeastwardly 197.16 feet along Adamsville Road to Lot No. Three of said plat; thence west along the south line of said Lot Number Three of said plat to a point 450.86 feet north of an iron pipe which divided the land of W.R. Knight and the said Lot. No. One of said plat; and running thence south 150.28 feet and thence running East to Adamsville Road and point of beginning.
Being the same property acquired by warranty deed from Mrs. Emma L. Cowan, et als., on February 2, 1929, by the late N.B. Knight, Sr. (Nathaniel B. Knight, SR.)
Would it be possible to find a record for the property that Nathaniel Knight, Sr. (N.B. Knight) bought from Mrs. Emma L. Cowan. Also, how much would a copy of this record cost?
My other question is as follows:
The probate record for Nathaniel Knight, Sr., states “as shown by the plot of Property of Knight Heirs and W.R. Knight” (see above for the whole quote). I would like to know who the Knights Heirs and W.R. Knight refers to. I do not think it would be Nathaniel Knight, Sr.’s children. Could Nathaniel Knight, Sr. and his sibling inherited property from their parents Thomas Knight and Sarah Butler, but they had no probate record? Is there a way to get a copy of this survey to see who the Knights Heirs are?
I wrote to the Fulton County Courthouse, but they were not able to help me.
