Fiquet or Fuqua born 7/27/1864

I am looking for information about the parents of a John Fiquet or Fuqua. According to leagal documents found in AL, John's father was assumed dead and his mother was sick and unable to care for herself or her son. John and his mother were placed in a facility known as the Poor House located between Dadevill and Alex City AL. at age 13 John was apprenticed to a John Martin Mason and his name was changed to John Martin Mason. It is possible that Mason is related because census records indicate that Mason was born in GA also although where is unknown. John Fiquet was born in FAyette Co. Ga on 7/27/1864 He said his name was Fuqua but documents show it as Fiquet. It is possible that John's father was in the Civil War and missing or killed in action. Why John's mother moved to
AL is unknown. It is possible that John Mason was either a friend or a relative of hers and that is why she relocated.Any help would be appreciated.
