Dear Mark: Thanks for replying. Thanks for you concern also We can certainly use your assistance. Scott with the Sons of Conf. Vets is also willing to assist. He is preparing for a big ceremony on June 12th and after that we plan to meet and begin planning for ongoing upkeep of the property.
The attitude of Hopewell Methodist Church has been unbelievable. We are dealing with so called "Christians" and they are acting as the world would respond. After years of claiming they had no ownership of cemetery they turned what records they had over to the Tyrone Library. Two weeks ago, my cousin Virginia and I look over the records there. Mostly surveys of cemetery. It seems that B M Winkles was in charge of selling lots or opening lots for burial or transferring lots. He probably also kept up the property. He died in 1993 and maybe after that was when it began to go down. The church said they would take it up with their board of trustees and I could be assured they would do the "Christian thing." Will see.

I can then send you photos of the work that has been done on cleaning the cemetery. You will like it. Four of us who are Yarbrough descendants paid to have the cemetery cut and trimmed. It took two men 17hrs to cut and trim and they did a great job.
