You are both right. Rare Over is the correct name, but on many census reports it appears as "Rear Over." Take it as you would any census taker's spelling of what he heard. In addition to Tyrone, I have found many of the people who were connected to Bethany United Methodist Church on Milam/Rivers Road in north Fayette living in the "Rear over" District in the early 1900s, so it might have extended up that way.

I lived in Tyrone for many years and did my voting in the "Rare Over" district. Always made me laugh.
