William W. Matthews, Executor of the Estate of Alexander Smith, deceased, sold Land Lot 164 of the 6th District of Fayette County Georgia, pursuant to an order of the Court Of Ordinary (now Probate Court) to Hiram Travis. The
proceeds of the sale was divided among the remaindermen, the life estate of Patience Smith having ceased to exist upon her death. There are charges
against the Estate for medical costs for PS through August 6, 1869. There is a reference for Matthews seeking administration of PS's estate on Jan. 5,
1870. I have not checked cemetery records, but it is safe to say that PS died between Aug. 6, 1869 and January 5, 1870.
Nancy Presley signed receipt vouchers for her proportionate share of the
estate of Alexander Smith. Comparing the Will to the Estate returns makes it
obvious that Nancy Presley is the same person as Nancy Rentfro, daughter of
Stephen Rentfro, there being only one marriage certificate issued during that
time frame for Nancy Rentfro, (and that to your Presley).
