Dear Mr. Payne,
My g-greatfather was Thomas Green Payne and I do not know where he was from. In researching, I found a book on Payne and a lot of ancestor of that name were from Rutherford Co. N.C. I had suspected my g-greatfather was coming from Fannin Co. If by chance, you find his name, while you do your research, would you let me know. Check out the census in 1840 and 1850 for Payne's.
Good Luck
Teeter Payne Bell
