There is a Jackson J. Swain married to Jane in the 1880 Emanuel census. They are at visit 241. In their household lives the following: Mary A.L age 4; James M. age 2; John E. age 1 month; Britain Scott age 70, father-in-law and Saphire age 60, mother-in-law. In the 1900 census this family is at visit 251, and Jackson J. is listed as James Swain. Britain is now deceased. Sophira is listed as Sopha, widow. She had l living child. This is all I know about this Swain family.

Britain Scott was my husband's ggg grandfather. He married Sophira/Sopha in 1873 after the death of his first wife, Nancy Price (my husband's ggg grandmother.) We believe from the census information that Sophira/Sopha was probably the mother of Jackson James Swain. I would love to know more about this Swain family. I know that Britain died before 1900, but I don't know where he or either of his wives are buried. Maybe he is buried with this Swain family.
