Burney, I think his family was in Marion S.C. in the late 1700's and that his father was also named James Marsh. Did you get the copy of the two deeds that I sent you? I They are clues to his parentage, and involve Gideon Hays who also moved to Emanuel Co from Marion S.C. I would love to hear from you to see what information you already have, and compare notes.
