I attempted to respond directly to your Email, but found the address provided through the forum to be erroneous. I don't have any hot information for you, but wanted to inform you of the incorrect address with your posting. I attempt to do so by responding here. I to am looking for Phillips originating in Emanual County, but I dont see a connection with your George. I share my information with you and will keep an eye out for your George and would appreciate feedback if you uncover any of my old bones. I am in search of William Phillips as listed below. It is my understanding that the 1st 6 kids were born in GA (Presume Emanual Co.) They migrated to North East TX (Marshall) about 1887 where the last two kids were born. I am a descendant of Emanual. I also include some 1850 Census data from Emanual Co. in hopes it will be of some value to you. Our dates don't seem to indicate a linkage but who knows we may find a connection down the road.

1. WILLIAM PHILLIPS was born February 01, 1834 in Georgia, Presumed Emanual Co. area, and died June 09, 1888 in Grange Hall Cemetery Harrison Co., Marshall TX. He married ABBY ELIZABETH MILLS August 10, 1850. 1st 6 kids b. Emanual Co GA last 2 Harrison Co. TX

Need further evidence to verify the connection, but here is some information that may give us another generation for our Phillips clan.
Harrison Co TX 1880 census shows "W. M. Phillips" as age 46 and we know him to be from Emanual Co GA. The following Emanual Co 1850 census reflects only one William Phillips age 16. There is a William age 17 which must be considered since census ages can be off a little.
