States: Georgia: Emanuel
I looked through all of my Whiddon records and couldn't find any pension record for William Whiddon, but did find lots of deeds (which are outlined in the Whiddon book). There is a Mary Whiddon who drew land in the Georgia lottery as a Rev. War widow, but this Mary Whiddon is believed to be Mary Eason, w/o John Whiddon, for the land was in Coweta Co. It is believed that the w/o William Whiddon stayed in Emanuel Co. near her children. The DAR, however, has 3 DAR record numbers so three people have submitted information that this William was a Rev. War veteran. When you are a member of the DAR, you have to submit proof of lineage and that the individual was a soldier. The DAR numbers are 608334, 529035, and 422470.
OH, and by the way, I found that William Whiddon was granted 200 acres of land in 1788 Darlington District, SC. But, the document doesn't say if it is due to military service. It's barely a page long. grrr
I'm going to attempt to send you a gedcom file on Dempsey Whiddon and family. Wish me luck!
