My mother was a Wilkes from Laurens Co. She was said to be the child of an Elmer Wilkes and Mary Etta Louise Weeks.I have no proof other than family hand down information and birth certificates of her children where she gave her maiden name as Wilkes.I would be interested in finding a line on this Elmer Wilkes.Don't know if this info will be of any help to you.
