Mercer & Welch Families in Emanuel Co, Ga to SC.

I have information to share on the Mercer and Welch families in Ga. and SC.

John Mercer married Martha Welch. Her sister Ester(Esther, or Easter) married Henry Mercer in the same yr 1982 in Richmond County, Ga. Also, a Suzie Welch was married to a Mercer, she was buried beside Martha Welch Mercer. Martha Welch was listed on the LDS site as being born in Emanuel County. One of her children Elie Jack was also listed as being born there in Summerton Ga. (I have info that says this is in Emanuel also.... ANYONE???? I have new information on ELie Jack to share.

Martha and Susie are buried in the Fort Gordon Cemetery. Martha died around 1905 and left these children... Elie, Tom (Leonard Thomas), Beulah (died Augusta) and William.

I am looking for more information on John Mercer.(He is listed in areas as being born 1866, 1852 and 1871.) but he was always from Ga. He is listed on the LDS site as dying in Langley, Aiken, South Carolina around 1911. Rumor in the family has it that after Martha Welch Mercer died around 1905... John remarried a Maggie (found them on the 1910 census in SC with the children) Maggie poisoned him. The children left and moved in with the Welch familes to stay out of orphans home..

Any information is welcome.
Thank you so much
Linda Mercer Bond
