Peri,

A few questions/comments:

I have a copy of James' will as well. I'm pretty sure the date on it is 25 August 1803. Are you sure you were referring to the same James with your 1874 will?

The Mordica Alexander in the 1820 census must be William's son. William's son Mordica was born 22 July 1795 in Wilkes County, Georgia. He died in 1868. He married Judith M. Shackleford on 7 August 1817 in Elbert County, Georgia.

My guess is that Smith's is the census district rather than a town.

BTW, I got a note back from Kelly Parks. She posted the reference to Moricida as a father for James. She has no idea where she got that information. She does not have a source for it.

Your thoughts?
Craig
