My information is that Reuben Thornton, son of Rev. Dozier Thornton, was born in NC on 16 Feb 1783 and died 1863 in Salem,AL, married first to Catherine Richardson and second to Elizabeth Waters who was born 1790. Reuben was a Baptist minister. Reuben had a brother Jonathan, born 1793 who married in 1817 to Martha McMasters. This Jonathan's War of 1812 Pension Application is on the Elbert Co. Archives site at www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/elbert.htm . Jonathan's brother Sanford Thornton, born 1798, died 8 Dec 1865, married 1819 to Susannah McMasters of Abbeville Dist., South Carolina. In Elbert Co. Deed Book T, page 121, Sanford Thornton appoints his brother Jonathan Thornton, both of Elbert Co., his Attorney in Fact to settle my business either in this state or South Carolina, 29 Dec 1822. Above info about the wives of Reuben and Jonathan has not been verified by me.
