Benjamin Thornton, Sr. , early 1800s
Posted by: Chandler Eavenson (ID *****8959) Date: July 25, 2003 at 11:09:44
  of 993

Benjamin Thornton, Sr., born 1774/75 in NC, came to Elbert Co. shortly before 1806 from Warren Co., NC with several children born in NC. Will of William Kendrick, 1776, Bute Co., NC (later Warren Co.) named an underage grandson of Benjamin Thornton. Surname of Benjamin's 1st wife Sarah is uncertain but possibly Smith as he had 2 children with middle initial S, a grandson with middle initial S, and two grandchildren with middle name of Smith. No proof found to support claims that Benjamin was son of Rev. Dozier Thornton.
