Dear Mr. Bell:
I do not have any direct information to give you. I just wanted to mention something that may assist you in your search for Eleazer Bell. You have a marriage date in Effingham County. Do you know if the marriage took place in a church? If it did, maybe that church has information regarding their membership and family history, such as: were other members of their family buried there, and if so what were their names. Many times people brought older members of their family with them when they migrated. Also, baptisms of children when they were born would be in the church records if the church records had not been lost to fires. Have you checked the church records of Ebenezer Church in Springfield, GA? Much information has been written about this particular church which is quite historical and you may locate information about members of your family in their records. Have you contacted the Georgia Historical Society, Whitaker Street, Savannah, Georgia? They have marvelous records of Georgia. You may wish to speak with the genealogical research section to see if they can help you in some way. They have a web site on the Internet. I am researching the Bell Family out of Scotland. I also have family connections to Effingham County, GA; but not on the Bell side. I wish you luck in your search. Ebenezer Church in Springfield has a museum. You may wish to speak with someone there to see if they can be of any assistance to you.
Sincerely,
Carole Melson.
