Jacksons in Egypt?

I am looking for any leads on Minnie Ola (Viola) Jackson, white, born around 1890-95, from Egypt GA.

Here's the background. My sister-in-law, now 71, had a father named William Vance Forrester, born at the Crittenton Home (a home for wayward girls) in Savannah, GA, on July 9, 1907. We were able to get a copy of his birth certificate, which is rather unusual. It has no child's name, only that it was a white male. Also, the blanks for "Father" have only check marks. Apparently this was customary for illegitimate children at that time. The mother was listed as Minnie Ola (later went by Viola) Jackson, whose "nativity" was listed as Egypt, GA. The attending physician was Laurence Lee in Savannah.

Birth mothers were not allowed in the Crittenton Home unless they agreed to keep their babies, and Minnie did. She later married Ernest Forrester, and the child took the last name Forrester, but apparently this was not the real father. That's a whole other issue, and any suggestions are welcome!

Anyway, if you have any leads on Ms. Jackson, or suggestions on how to research this, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks,

Ron Carlson
