I found my great-grandmother Ginnette (Jeannette) Towns on the 1880 Doughtery County, Albany Georgia census. She was 37. Her children were Fannie Tharpe, Elias Green, Jessie Green, Loula Tharpe, Frank Tharpe. Fanny Tharpe is my grandmother. I believe they lived on the Towns Plantation, owned by R. Towns in Dougherty County. There is an overseer listed on plantation with the last name of Tharpe. On Fannies death certificate, her father is listed as Frank Tharpe, so I believe Frank Tharpe (overseer of Towns Plantation) and Ginette Towns are my great grandparents. I next found Fannie in Sumter County, Americus Georgia, married to Gus McCullough in 1910. Her children were Elias, Jency, Tommie (female), John (Toot) LC (Leonard) and Frank. There may have been others. LC is my father and moved to Buffalo NY. Jency ended up in NYC with John. Tommie married Charles Rollins, and died, Jency ended up taking care of her children, Ruth, Fannie B, and Charles. I am looking for info on R Towns, Ginette Towns, the Towns Plantation, Frank Tharpe and Fannie Tharpe McCullough. Can anyone tell me how to get birth and death records? Can anyone tell me how to access plantation records? Theressa
