NYA program in Dade County before WWW II

Does anyone know about the National Youth Administration program during the years before WWW II in Dade County. My father grew up in Avans and he told me about working as a cabnet maker, mattress maker under the NYA before he went to Europe and the war. Both he and his sister did several jobs under this program and I would like to know a little about it if possible. He is 88 and doesn't remember things very well and has trouble talking for any period of time so it is hard to question him about too many things. I am researching the Kinsey family and he came to Avans in 1920 and I think lived there until he went to the Army.
Thanks for any help.
