I can't help you with Trammel's parents, but in the 1880 Dade Co. census there was a Thomas Tramel, age 36, still listed with a wife Oslenia. Trammel was born NC. So they may have stayed in Dade Co. longer than you thought or moved back. I got this from a transcription in a book called "The Civil War Comes to Dade County." I know the wife's name is a little different, but that could be an error in transcription or a spelling error by the census taker. I thought this might be them. The children are not listed in this book. You might want to check a complete 1880 census yourself.
