I have a little information on the Benges which you perhaps already have. I am interested in the fact that Trader John Benge m. Elizabeth Lewis whose mother was a Martin. His brother Thomas Benge m. Susannah Lewis whose parents were Wm. Terral Lewis and Sally Martin. Obediah Martin Benge m.2 Sally Fields. Thomas Benge, father of Trader John, died 1811 in Wilkes Co. NC. A Thomas Fields, son of Richard and Eliz. Murrell Fields, was living in Wilkes Co. NC. He had a sister and daughter named Sally. There was also a Richard Fields who m. Cherokee Nancy Augusta, and Susannah Emory. I wonder if these Richard Fields were the same man. I think they were about the same age. I found Obediah Binge in 1790 Surry Co. NC with 233. Wm. Terral Lewis 326 was also there. Four away was Obediah Martin 1-4-5, and Salathiel Martin 142-3. My ggggg grandfather was Thomas Fields of Wilkes Co. NC. My gggg grandmother on another line was Rebeckah Martin who m. George Davis. Sandy Otos
