Sally, my great grandparents, Francis Marion Townsend and Judy Ann Hale Townsend, were married by a Rev. H. "Hoppy" Phillips May 19, 1872. They were married at (Trenton?), Dade County, GA - In trying to trace the family beyond F.M.'s grandfather (without much luck), I keep running across Townsend and Phillips families together. No inter-marriages, but apparently close friends. They were in Tennessee & Virginia. I do not know what denomination they were in, but I suspect they were Methodists. My grandmother once told me that they had been Methodists, until they moved to Oklahoma Territory, where the only church available at that time was Baptist. Hope this might give you a lead. Good Luck! Jennie
