Good to hear from you.
Since I made my post, I have discovered who this Gray Roberts is. As you know, I'm descended from Gray Stock and Sarah Lott Roberts. The Gray Roberts in Crawford Co isn't my Gray.
This Gray Roberts is Graystock Roberts Jr. He is the first cousin to my Gray Stock Roberts.
This Gray married a woman named Mary, last name unknown, we found them on the 1850 Jones Co., MS census living near their daughter, Nancy Roberts Powell, she married Rigdon Powell.
This Gray and his father appear on the 1820 Burke Co., GA census living four households apart. My Gray Stock appears on the same census in Montgomery Co., GA.
What's interesting on the 1820 Burke census is that next door to Graystock Sr is a Delia Roberts and next door to Delia is Simeon Roberts. We believe Delia to be a widowed daughter-in-law and Simeon to be a son of Graystock Sr. The close proximity and data suggest it.
The Frederick Roberts that I'm researching married Angelina Douglas(s). They lived in Burke, Montgomery and Wilkinson Cos. When In 1807, the part of Wilkinson they lived in was taken into Laurens. Frederick died there in 1823.
The Reuben Roberts that I'm researching married Margaret "Peggy" Hudson and later Mary Anna Burnett. They migrated from Kershaw Co., SC to Jones Co., GA. Reuben died in Jones in 1843.
The William located in Montgomery Co, well there were several. One is the son of Drewry Roberts, William Mack Roberts, another is the brother of my Gray Stock. Gray Stock's brother married Nancy Tucker. William Mack married Mrs. Sarah Graddy, widow of William Graddy. William Graddy was the brother-in-law of William Mack's sister. He later had a relationship with Caroline Carson. In 1850, William Mack stood trial in Decatur Co., GA on bygamy charges. The 1850 Decatur Co., GA census shows Sarah Roberts, William Roberts and Caroline Carson living next door to one another. Sarah is listed in her son's household, William living with two of their sons and Caroline Carson living with Mary Sermons. I don't know if the bygamy charges were made before or after the date of the census.
Drewry Roberts married Rachel Douglas, possibly a sister of Frederick Roberts' wife, Angelina Douglas(s). I found Drewry first in Burke Co in 1774. He had signed a petition with the other Burke men.
I've wondered about your Robertses in Marion Co., FL. My Gray Stock's daughter, Martha Mariah Roberts Grantham (my gg-grandmother) migrated to Marion Co with her husband and two of his brothers. However, so far, I've found no connection between our lines.
I hope this helps to sort out a few more of these GA Robertses. Have a Blessed New Year.
