I am looking for information on the siblings of or any information regarding the family of my Great Grandfather John Caldwell Calhoun Robbinson who was born in Roaring Springs, Coweta County, May 17, 1859. He was the youngest child of John Robinson, who was born in Ireland, date and place unknown, and Maggie Burke Robinson born in 1819, died July 1881.
According to the information given to me by a cousin of my mother's when I was a child John Robinson left for the gold fields of Northern Georgia when John C.C. was a baby but never returned. I am unsure about this as the research I did on Georgia's gold rush had it occuring much earlier in the century.
When her husband didn't return Maggie was unable to care for her older children and she bound them out, keeping only John C.C. with her as he was a baby. She became the housekeeper for William John Spruill and later became his 3rd wife. William John Spruill was a descendant of Dr. Godfrey Spruill (William6, William5, John4, Samuel3, Samuel2,Dr. Godfrey1) and was a Civil Engineer. William John Spruill built mills throughout the south.
John C.C. said that he was bound out to a man by the name of Henry Heath as a boy. John C.C. later married Ellen Ada Spruill (my great grandmother), the youngest child (along with her twin sister Margaret) of William John Spruill. I found William John Spruill on the 1880 census living in Perry County, Alabama but his wife is listed as Jane, born in 1824. The information I have says Maggie Burke was born in 1813 and died in 1881. If she was married to William John Spruill she would be listed on the 1880 census instead of Jane so I am somewhat confused. I am sure it is the right William Spruill as the birth year and place listed on the census are correct for my William Spruill plus I found the marriage license records for Ellen and John, in Perry County, although the initials and spelling of John's last name are wrong.
Spruil, Ellen Robison, John C.L. Marriage license issued 2-Aug-1879 Married3-Aug-1879 In Perry county Al.
John C.C. Robinson had four siblings. There have to be descendants of them out there somewhere. If this family sounds familiar to you please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
