Joe Baggett -
I can't tell you glad I am to hear from you!
Many thanks for your informative reply to my query re Jeremiah Gorman of Coweta Co. I need to follow up on him to learn to which line of Southern Gormans he belongs.
Clabourn Gorman (md Elizabeth Walker in Hall Co GA, 1820)
was son of John Spragins Gorman who is listed next door to Clabourn and Elizabeth in the 1820 Hall Co. census.
John Spragins Gorman was md. to Nancy Gibson, d/o John Gibson of Warren Co. (sister of Churchill Gibson). John Spragins died 1820/21; was son of
John Gorman who d 1803 in Edgefield Co, SC.
Dr. John Berry Gorman and Dr. Thos. B. Gorman of Baldwin and Monroe Counties were first cousins to my John S. Gorman.
Jeremiah is an unknown, but surely one of our family.
John Spragins Gorman had children, all born before 1820, most if not all in Georgia. John Gorman - Clabourn Gorman -
Sarah Gorman (Delafield) - James Gorman b1810, my gr-gr-grfa - Churchwell/Churchill Gorman b1811 - Nancy Gorman (Pugh) (Tippin) - and William S. Gorman b1817.
I'm sure we have descendants scattered throughout the Southern states - and elsewhere as well by now. I am building a compendium of Southern Gormans - since 1964.
All information is so very welcome. Thank You for the information you sent. I look forward to hearing more. Norma (Gorman) Wright
