Dear Sam: Reference to your Wilkes and Tillman ancestors of Cook Co. and Colquitt Co.,Ga. If you have an Atlas with Reed Bingham State Park on it you are where your Tillman Ancestors lived. There is a church and cemetery about a mile on the road you exit on the Colquitt Co. side. The Church is Buck Tillman Church and an old area which is very near Ellenton, Ga. which is about one or two miles away. Tillman Families and Wilkes Families have been well known in Cook and Colquitt Counties. I grew
up about 6 miles from where the state park was built and we had neighbors on the farm by the name of Wilkes. I was a young kid but I remember the name of Pierce Wilkes and a son we called "Jabbo" a nickname. Please e mail me some names and in the mean time I will search through the book, History of Cook Co.- Cook Co. also have several families of Tillmans. I know the family of Carl Tillman that married Addie Andrews. I went to school with their 2 daughters and their husbands.
By the way Brinkley Gandy's first wife Leah Narsworthy is buried near Ellenton, Ga.-Possibly the Tillman Cementery.
